Summer Arts Coordinator

The Summer Arts Coordinator oversees many of the day-to-day needs of Danforth Art’s busy SUMMER ARTS program for children and teens, working closely with the School Manager and Children’s Studio Education Manager. S/he assists in the supervision, scheduling and training of approximately 20 high school and college interns and assistants; oversees class transitions and break times of summer students in grades K-8; oversees curbside drop off/pick up; creates extended day programming and lunchtime activities and is occasionally called on to substitute in an art class. This is a temporary position, 30 hours per week. Reports to Art School Director.

Dates and hours: 10 weeks: June 21–August 19, 2016, plus training during late spring. Summer hours are
8am–2:30pm. (There is some flexibility with start date.)

Job requirements: leadership and multi-tasking abilities; Bachelor’s degree in art, art education or related subject; experience and interest in working with teens and/or children. Knowledge of MS Office, especially Word and Excel. Must be highly responsible and have a positive attitude, love of art, a good sense of humor and a willingness to learn. Preferred candidates will have experience teaching art and/or leading a children’s or teen program. This is an excellent opportunity for an art teacher or art education graduate to get behind-the-scenes experience in the running of a busy art school, with the opportunity to make a major impact on Internship and Assistantship programs.

Part-time Visitor Services Representative

Danforth Art is seeking friendly and responsible candidates to work as a Visitor Services Representative. Position is responsible for admissions, information, and sales. Visitor Services Staff greets visitors and groups and must keep informed about museum exhibitions, events and programs. Part-time position available, 10-15 hours per week, which will include shifts on both weekdays and weekends. Candidates should have flexibility to pick up additional shifts as needed. The museum is open Wednesday through Sunday and Thursday evenings.

Job requirements: Candidates must possess excellent customer service and organization skills, with the ability to multitask. Candidates must be dependable and enjoy interacting with the public as part of our Visitor Services Team. Interest and background in museums and/or art a plus. Some college and one year professional experience working in a public service environment preferably in customer service or retail.

Volunteer Opportunities at Danforth Art

Danforth Art Docents

Docents are dedicated volunteers who serve as tour guides and help make museum visits enjoyable and educational for participants of all ages. They provide an invaluable service to the museum and to the community. Docent training begins each September. If you wish to become a docent please call 508.620.0050 x23 for an application. Volunteer Corps

Danforth Art is growing and we’re looking for friendly and reliable volunteers who are interested in supporting the arts and their community. A broad range of volunteer opportunities are available, including: Promotion/Distribution, Museum & Art School Event Volunteer, Community Ambassador, Development/Fundraising/Office Administration, and Museum Gallery Monitor.
