An Update on Danforth Art Museum, Exhibitions & Programs

In 2016, Danforth Art Museum relocated to its new home—the Jonathan Maynard Building on Framingham Centre Common—and began a multi-phase renovation of the building with administrative offices, curatorial workspace, and the studio art school. In this phase of business and building planning, as we pursue a merger with Framingham State University, there are no museum exhibitions or galleries in the Jonathan Maynard Building.

We intend to bring the museum—its vibrant and thought-provoking rotating exhibitions, its celebrated works from both our Permanent Collection and the Meta Vaux Warrick Fuller Special Collection, and many of its related museum experiences—as soon as possible, and are busy working behind-the-scenes on that effort. We remain committed to the discovery, promotion, and celebration of emerging and established artists from the region, and look forward to once again showcasing contemporary works from this community.

Information for Visitors

For the last year, Danforth Art has and, on a limited basis through 2018, will present travelling exhibitions only, drawn entirely from the holdings of the Danforth Art Permanent Collection, with partnering cultural and educational organizations in the region. We are grateful to the past exhibition partners: the Griffin Museum of Photography in Winchester, MA; and Endicott College in Beverly, MA, and the Worcester Art Museum. We will conclude our offsite exhibition program with our collaboration with North Hill in Needham, MA, through March of 2018. For information of the first of those exhibitions, please click on the listing below.

PLEASE NOTE: Danforth Art Museum’s signature juried exhibitions—the Danforth Art Annual and The New England Photography Biennial—have been suspended until the organization is able to host those exhibitions in its own galleries.
