The artist will be available during the Sunday, April 6th, First Sunday Drop into Art activities, for a book signing, 2-4pm.

About the artist, from the artist's web site - www.zahares.com:
“The World according to Wade Zahares is often described as dreamlike, and somewhat unreal.  In reality Wade lives on a small farm in southern Maine, from which the rolling hills and whimsical landscapes of his pastels emerge.  Since graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art, he has gone on to illustrate four children’s books.

“Window Music, his first book, was singled out by Time Magazine and the New York Times as among the very best picture books of 1998.

“His fine art is avidly sought out be a growing number of private and corporate collectors throughout the Northeast and beyond.  Wade’s work is also included in the permanent collection of the DeCordova Museum of Art in Lincoln, MA. He has been commissioned by HBO, Cinemax, L.A. Times Magazine, Family Circle and Sesame Street Magazine.”

Other books he has illustrated include: Delivery; Red are the Apples; Big, Bad, and a Little Bit Scary: Poems that Bite Back; Liberty Rising: The Story of the Statue of Liberty; Building Liberty and Pony Island (2009). New York Times awarded him Best Illustrated Children’s Book of the Year, 1998.

 About the exhibit
19 Full color illustrations from Lucky Jake, authored by Sharon Hart Addy. Lucky Jake is published by Houghton Mifflin Company, Boston, 2007.

“I Love the mood and setting of the book.  I did a lot of research on the landscape and the time period of the Gold Rush era, and have used that as the backbone for my unique take on the imagery.” –Wade Zahares
