About the Exhibit

Ellen Wineberg’s mixed-media paintings and assemblages are defined by an expressive, energetic, and textural construction that give the works a sense of constant motion. Wineberg’s pieces reveal distinctive found objects—recalling both the manmade and natural world—including recycled quilt pieces, embroidered dish towels, lace, tools, scraps of wood and metal, rocks, and tree branches. New and old objects are juxtaposed and fused together to create intricate yet organic two- and three-dimensional compositions which visualize our often oppositional nature.

About the Artist

Ellen Wineberg’s work is in the DeCordova Museum, New Britain Museum, Boston Public Library, Dana Farber and Simmons College collections. She was a Mass. Cultural Council finalist in Painting in 2004 and was invited to mount a solo show at MCC Headquarters. She has shown at the Clark Gallery in Lincoln and at Gallery Henoch in New York.  She is concurrently showing in September and October 2013 at Danforth Art, Thayer Academy in Braintree, and at the Bromfield Gallery, Boston.
