School Operating Hours

The studios on the third floor of the Jonathan Maynard Building are open to registered students at the times listed below. Staff members are present to assist students on site during these operating hours, but phone coverage may be limited at times.

Danforth Art is CLOSED on Monday, February 20 in observance of Presidents’ Day; on Monday, April 17 in observance of Patriots’ Day; and on Monday, May 29 in observance of Memorial Day. Other class interruptions due to holidays, school vacation weeks, or other issues are noted in the class descriptions.
All students (or parents/guardians on behalf of minor students) must read, sign, and return to the School Office a completed Program Consent and Release Agreement which includes the waiver of general liability, waiver of medical liability, photography/videography release, and, for minor children ONLY, authorized emergency contacts and medication authorization.
Please note: This form has been updated with minor changes reflecting our relocation for the winter 2017 season. Please renew your form now. Completion and submission of this form is a requirement and condition of registration and participation in any class/workshop. A signed form is required for EACH student. No student is permitted to participate in any class/workshop without submitting a signed Program Consent and Release Agreement to the School Office, and registration shall not be complete until such completed form is received by the School Office.

Danforth Art School studios are located on the third floor of the Jonathan Maynard Building at 14 Vernon Street, in the Jonathan Maynard Building on Framingham Centre Common, in Framingham, Massachusetts. The entrance and parking lot are located at the back of the building, accessible via Grove Street. Enter through the main doors and take the elevator to the third floor. Convenient free parking is available in the Danforth Art lot and on local streets. The main entrance and the third floor studios are wheelchair accessible. Please let us know if you have any mobility concerns and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Registration continues through the first week of the season; late enrollment is not permitted. Full payment is required at the time of registration. Online registrants will receive a confirmation email. All others may call the School Office for a confirmation receipt.
Danforth Art’s membership program was suspended in July, 2016; no new memberships or membership renewals are being sold at this time. No member rates are offered for the Spring Session.
A discounted Early Bird rate is available on all Spring Session offerings through March 9, 2017; the Early Bird rate will show automatically for online registration as available.
Senior citizens (aged 65 and older) receive an additional 10% off all offerings; senior citizen discounts are available only for phone or in-person registrations.
Scholarships are not available for the Winter 2017 season.
Danforth Art is not offering Professional Development courses for the Winter season. On April 29, Danforth Art will offer Creating a Bridge between 2D and 3D Workshop designed specifically for K-12 art teachers and educators in other disciplines, and eligible for PDPs at no additional charge. All Danforth Art classes are eligible for PDPs at no additional charge.
To ease confusion for beginning artists, all materials will be provided for the first two classes of all adult beginner-level classes (noted in the class description as “Some supplies included.”) and these students will be given guidance during their first class on which supplies to purchase for the remainder of the season.
Adult students in intermediate- or advanced-level classes, or any class without the notation above, are expected to bring supplies to their first class. Classes and workshops requiring unconventional materials (household items, non-art materials, your own works in progress, etc) are additionally noted in the descriptions.

Tuition for children’s classes includes all supplies.
Danforth Art reserves the right to cancel any class, to change instructors, or to reschedule individual classes as needed. We are unable to offer make-up classes if students are absent. Full refunds will be made if a class is canceled by Danforth Art. Student cancellations must be received a minimum of TWO WEEKS prior to class/workshop start date; a $25 cancellation fee will be deducted from the refund. No registration fees will be refunded if student cancellation occurs less than two weeks (14 full days) prior . Class tuition is not prorated due to student absences.
In the case of bad weather, a message will be left on our website, our Facebook page and on the School’s telephone answering system at 508-620-0937 by 7 am for morning classes, by 10 am for afternoon classes, and by 2 pm for evening classes. Whenever possible, classes will be rescheduled by the instructor.
There is no kitchen or lunchroom, no refrigerator or microwave, available to students in our new facilities. Students may bring water and other closed beverages into the studios. No food is allowed in the studios; however, accommodations will be made for adults enrolled in full-day workshops and for children enrolled in full-day School Vacation Week workshops. The School Office will maintain with a list of area restaurants and cafés within walking distance or a short drive from our new location.
Art-making can be messy! Please dress your child accordingly. Students may bring their own aprons or smocks to wear over their clothing.
Danforth Art requires guardians to accompany children under age 14 to and from the studios on the third floor.
Please notify the School Office if the parent/guardian is going to be late or if your child will be absent from class. Danforth Art will only release a minor child Student to authorized adults listed on the Program Consent and Release Agreement and with photographic identification. If the person picking up the minor child Student is NOT listed on this form the parent/guardian must inform Danforth Art in writing beforehand.
There will be a $10 late pick-up fee per child for the first 10 minutes late. You will be charged $5 for every 5 minutes after.
